A tower that spans the centuries
The Torre degli Anziani is Padua’s oldest civic tower, built in the 13th century and now open to the public after careful restoration. The interior reveals medieval structures, 20th-century additions, and views that tell the story of the city.
GET THE EXPERIENCEYes, for everyone and for every time slot.
About 45 minutes, including the 15-minute induction video.
Yes, children can take part in the tour if they are able to climb the 190 steps. Babies can only come up if they are carried by their parents, who are responsible for them. Strollers must be left at the entrance.
The internal staircase is not accessible to people with mobility disabilities or walking difficulties.
For technical reasons and to protect the structure of the Tower itself, it has not been possible to install a lift inside or outside the building.
However, it is possible to reach the video room via the stair lift in the Palazzo della Ragione. From here, visitors can follow the tour and admire the view via cameras installed at the top, which transmit images in real time.
The climb is not recommended for people with heart conditions, vertigo and/or claustrophobia. If in doubt, please consult your doctor.
Comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for climbing 190 steps are recommended. The internal ramps are made of perforated metal, so sturdy, non-slip footwear is preferable.
The Tower lobby is equipped with umbrella stands, which must be used.
Bags and backpacks must be stored in the lockers at the entrance.
Trolleys and suitcases are not allowed, as there is no cloakroom available.
Photographs are permitted for personal, non-commercial use only. The use of tripods or bulky supports is not permitted, and shooting must not obstruct the passage of other visitors.
No, pets of any size are not permitted.
